Land & Oil-Pollution Response
Overview

Contaminated land handled step by step: contained, treated and rehabilitated.

Contaminated soil and oil spills need a fast and careful response. We define the extent of contamination, treat the soil, remove petroleum pollution and rehabilitate the land, and help you prepare so the next incident is handled faster. Where conditions suit it, biological treatment (bioremediation) is assessed alongside other methods.

01What we cover

  • Contaminated site assessmentSampling to define the type and extent of contamination.
  • Soil treatmentMethods chosen for the contaminant, soil type and site constraints, including bioremediation where it fits.
  • Petroleum-pollution removalRemoval of hydrocarbon pollution from soil and affected areas.
  • Land rehabilitationReturning land to a safe, usable condition after treatment.
  • Spill-crisis advisorySpill response plans, drills and advice during an incident.

Common questions

We have just had a spill. What should happen first?

Contain the source and keep people safe. Then contact us so we can advise on immediate steps and plan sampling to define the affected area.

What is bioremediation?

Treatment that uses microorganisms to break down pollutants such as hydrocarbons, which they use as a food source. Whether it suits a site depends on the contaminant, the soil and the time available.

How do you confirm that land is clean?

Through verification sampling after treatment, analysed by approved laboratories and compared with the agreed targets.

Scope follows the activities listed in Sontrova's commercial register. Work that requires a licence or approval is carried out once the relevant licence is in place.
