Recycling plants
Overview

Recycling plants from study to operation, for used oil, electronics, batteries, plastics, tyres and waste to energy.

We study, design, manage and build recycling plants, then train the people who run them. Each plant is set up around its feedstock, the market for what it recovers, and the site.

01From study to operation

  1. Feasibility studyFeedstock availability, market for recovered products, capacity, site and investment case.
  2. Process and designTechnology selection, mass and energy balance, layout and detailed engineering.
  3. Project managementProcurement, contractor coordination, budget, schedule and permitting support.
  4. Construction and commissioningSupervised installation, testing, start-up and performance verification.
  5. Training and handoverOperator training, O&M manuals and support through the first operating cycle.

02Used oil, electronics and battery plants

01Used oil re-refining

Feedstock
Used engine, hydraulic and industrial lubricating oils.
Process
Collection and storage, dewatering, filtration, vacuum distillation and finishing into base oil or industrial fuel.
Outputs
Re-refined base oil, industrial fuel oil and safely managed residues.

02Electronic waste

Feedstock
Computers, appliances, telecom equipment, cables and circuit boards.
Process
Safe dismantling and shredding, then magnetic, eddy-current and density separation of materials.
Outputs
Ferrous metals, aluminium, copper, plastics and precious-metal fractions for refining.

03Battery recycling

Feedstock
Lead-acid and lithium-ion batteries.
Process
Safe discharge and dismantling, crushing and separation, lead smelting and black-mass recovery for lithium-ion.
Outputs
Lead, plastics and black mass (nickel, cobalt, lithium) for refining, with electrolyte treated safely.

03Plastics, tyres and waste-to-energy plants

01Plastic recycling

Feedstock
Industrial and post-consumer plastics such as PET, HDPE, PP and LDPE.
Process
Sorting, shredding, washing, drying, extrusion and pelletising, set up line by line for each polymer.
Outputs
Clean flakes and recycled pellets ready for manufacturing.

02Tyre recycling

Feedstock
End-of-life car, truck and industrial tyres.
Process
Shredding and granulation with steel and textile removal, with optional pyrolysis.
Outputs
Rubber granules and crumb, recovered steel, and pyrolysis oil and carbon char.

03Waste to energy

Feedstock
Organic and municipal waste, manure, biomass and non-recyclable plastics.
Process
Anaerobic digestion, pyrolysis, gasification or refuse-derived fuel preparation, chosen by feedstock.
Outputs
Biogas, electricity, heat, pyrolysis oil, compost or digestate and biochar.

Common questions

Where does a recycling plant project start?

With a feasibility study: how much feedstock is available, who will buy what the plant recovers, the right capacity, the site and the investment case.

Do you stay involved after start-up?

Yes. Handover includes operator training, O&M manuals and support through the first operating cycle.

Scope follows the activities listed in Sontrova's commercial register. Work that requires a licence or approval is carried out once the relevant licence is in place.
